Make Mom Something Special This April! Our Makerspace is buzzing this month with four workshops designed to help you craft a unique, handmade gift just in time for Mother’s Day! Whether you want to surprise Mom, a grandmother, or even treat yourself to something new, these sessions are the perfect way to get your creative juices flowing:

Laser-Cut Wood Flower: Create a beautiful, everlasting flower! Use the laser to cut the layered design from basswood, then finish it off with paint.
Custom Cork Coaster: A patron favorite! You’ll create a design and then use the laser to engrave it onto a high-quality cork coaster.
Handmade Stud Earrings: These are fun, easy to assemble, and look amazing. You’ll walk away with a pair of stylish studs!
Layered Photo Art: Layered photo mats make your pictures pop. A great gift for Mom, or get a head start on Father’s Day!

Youth Makerspace Workshop (ages 10-18). Design a vinyl decal for a small custom notebook. From cool fonts to fun graphics, the options are endless!

No experience necessary. In this guided, hands-on session:

Master the Tech: Learn the basics of the Cricut cutting machine.
Learn Pro Techniques: Get hands-on experience with “weeding” vinyl like a pro.
Take it Home: Leave with a personalized mini notebook that’s totally unique to them.

Curious About 3D Printing? Then come on out to the Almonte Branch on Saturday, April 11 from 11:00am – 12pm.
Our dedicated volunteer, Grant Montag, will be delivering a high-level presentation to curious minds. This is an opportunity to watch, learn and ask questions. If what you see sounds interesting, subsequent one-on-one training sessions are available. Drop in. No registration required.

National Film Day is April 15. This is a massive, coast-to-coast-to-coast salute to Canadian cinema. Celebrate with us at the Almonte branch with a double feature! Come see both films or pick your favourite. No registration required. Room capacity is 30 people. FREE popcorn!

12:30pm is Blackberry (2023) – The story of the meteoric rise and catastrophic fall of the first smart phone.
2:45pm is The Grizzlies (2018) – A group of Inuit students’ lives are transformed when they are introduced to the sport of lacrosse.

3D Printing Group will meet Sunday, April 12 at 11:30am – Almonte Branch due to the Easter holiday weekend. This group normally meets the first Sunday of the month.

This is not a printing class, but a gathering of 3D printing enthusiasts and curious minds. Meet other makers, share ideas, ask questions and learn something new! All experience levels welcome.
