Beth Granger was born into a nightmare disguised as an elite Christian boarding school. Raised within the walls of Grenville Christian College, she endured decades of coercion, public shaming, and physical abuse—hidden behind the institution’s polished reputation. Beth’s memoir reveals the painful truth about growing up in an environment designed to break its members.

Thurs. 5 June @ 6:30pm, Almonte branch library
Globe and Mail journalist & author, Eric Andrew-Gee with his book The Mind Mappers

Eric Andrew-Gee discusses the riveting true story of two men – Wilder Penfield and William Cone – who revolutionized the study of the brain, at a time when neurosurgery was more likely to be a death sentence than a cure.

Andrew-Gee weaves together the rich history of The Neuro (the Montreal Neurological Institute established in a Gothic stone hospital on the slope of a mountain) with that of Penfield and Cone to reveal the untold story of one of the birthplaces of neuroscience. He also revives the tragic, forgotten story of a scientific partnership, writing Dr. William Cone back into the historical record at last.
