The Elizabeth Kelly Foundation Literacy Program is back at library branches this summer! This program cultivates an understanding and love for reading in students.

A trained literacy tutor works one-on-one with students in five key areas of literacy instruction: phonemic awareness, phonics, fluency, vocabulary and comprehension. This instruction helps each child gain insight, practice and confidence in both verbal and written language, with an emphasis placed on the skill of reading.

Each student attends a daily (Monday-Friday) one-hour session over the duration of two weeks, totaling 10 hours of one-on-one tutoring. The library provides a comfortable, safe and flexible learning environment.

If you feel your child would benefit from this program, please contact your child’s teacher NOW to ask for their recommendation and the registration FORMS needed to register for this program. Bring completed forms to the library. Children who participated in past years made huge strides in their reading and writing skills, and had a lot of fun!
