LEGO Sumobot is back at Mississippi Mills Library!

Get ready for one of our most exciting summer programs: LEGO Sumobot! In this free program for ages 8 and up, participants build and program their own LEGO sumo-bots using LEGO Spike kits and Scratch, a kid-friendly, block-based coding language. With instruction and support from Steampunk Education instructors, kids learn how to build and code robots before facing off in a thrilling robot sumo battle, where the strongest bot wins!

Important information:

  • Participants must be able to read, as basic reading skills are required to use Scratch
  • Only 8 spots are available per day – registration is required, spaces fill up quickly!
  • Program is run at Almonte branch – 4pm to 6:30pm, July 14 – 25
  • Each child can ONLY attend ONE day – NOT multiple days.
  • Register here: https://form.jotform.com/251826321811249

This hands-on STEM program offers a fantastic opportunity for kids to explore robotics, engineering, and programming in a fun and engaging environment, all under expert guidance! We gratefully acknowledge the Elizabeth Kelly Foundation and Lanark County for their generous financial support, which helps make programs like this possible.

Explore 3D Printing at the Library!

Learn how to 3D print your own creations. Discover how to: download model blueprints, use beginner-friendly design tools like TinkerCAD, and convert designs using Prusa Slicer for printing. After training, patrons aged 16+ sign a waiver and can book time to print independently with the library’s Prusa i3 MK3 that uses PETG filament. (Under 16? You’ll need an adult with you!)

Library staff do not print items for patrons — this program is all about empowering you to learn the full process. Support is available by appointment. Spots fill fast, register online https://form.jotform.com/251833879669276
