Passes provide complimentary day-use access for one vehicle and its occupants at more than 100 provincial parks. The passes aren’t reservable, but phone the library or drop by to see if one’s available. The library has 6 passes to lend.
The Ontario Parks library permit lending program is part of Healthy Parks Healthy People (HPHP), which aims to reduce barriers and make it easier for people to spend time in nature.
In August, the program runs a #30x30Challenge. “In a world where we are increasingly disconnected from time outdoors, the objective of the 30×30 Challenge is to reconnect people and communities with nature. Creating a lasting nature habit offers a variety of social, spiritual, physical and mental health benefits. The significance of spending time in natural spaces has never been so important.” – more details at the site.
