Thank you to the Friends of MMPL for an incredibly successful online auction! What an incredible effort!
The auction overshot its fundraising goal and, after a few expenses were paid & a couple of large donations were received, the auction raised $5256 – astounding!
This success was thanks to the service donations of 75 people, organizations & businesses, and the 137 people registered to bid on them. The Friends and the library are extremely grateful to all for making the auction such a success, thank you. Special thanks to Maureen Dagg & Carolyn Klickerman for their substantial donations.
The auction is not the only activity initiated by the Friends of the Library. There are so many: the FriendShop in the Almonte Branch, the Market table on Saturday mornings during the summer months, an annual Book Sale (likely in October) and many more!
The Friends’ most recent endeavour: the Book in Hand program, which gave 45 children in the library’s Reading Buddy Program a brand new free book to take home at the end of the session! Plans to make free books available at the foodbank are underway for the Fall.
The Friends of the Mississippi Mills Public Library is a vibrant group of volunteers who are always looking for others to join them in their efforts. There is a load of talent, experience, creativity and expertise in the group, making it a great volunteer opportunity. Consider joining!
