Please join us in wishing Margo all the best on her retirement June 30!

Margo joined the Almonte Public Library almost 30 years ago to help with the conversion from the card catalogue to a “new fangled computer system”.  We couldn’t let her go after the job was complete!

Margo quickly became an integral part of our library, serving patrons with care and attention, assisting with book purchases and interlibrary loan.  With her usual attention to detail and excellent planning skills, Margo started the Almonte Book Club, Wednesday morning films, a speaker series, and the Cookbook Book Club. She organized the Human Library and other events, curated Seniors Activity Bags and became the staff liaison for the Friends of the Mississippi Mills Public Library.

When asked what is closest to her heart, Margo will say it’s the Visiting Library Service that she implemented many years ago to deliver material to patrons who can no longer come to the library in person.

Many things happen over the span of 30 years.  Young parents bring their babies in to join the library, and those babies later bring their children. Favourite patrons move away. Long-time patrons pass away and are missed.  Almonte amalgamated with Ramsay and Pakenham. Several CEOs and numerous Board Members and staff have come and gone.  Margo has been a mainstay. She will be missed by staff and patrons… during the week.

The good news is: Margo will begin her new position as weekend library staff, bringing her expertise in reader’s advisory to the Almonte Branch on Saturdays & Sundays!

Please drop in to the Almonte branch on Thursday, June 30 from 10am – 12pm to share some refreshments and wish Margo well! Margo – staff, Board members, and patrons thank you for your wonderful contributions to our Library!
